Located just outside of Jasper National Park gates, the trailhead begins in a well-established parking lot after a drive up switchbacks. As one travels along the trail, you will reach a junction in which splits into the path of the Glacier Loop and a trail that traverses over a lateral moraine. At about the 2 km mark, the upper subalpine is reached where the trees begin to thin out and the flowers begin to blossom. It is here where you should enjoy the alpine flowers as some of these flowers only grow in this area!

Soon, you will reach a second junction in which offers two options: the easier, but longer route or the harder, but shorter route.  After gaining 400 m in elevation, the trail turns downhill and closes the loop. This is where most people call it a day and have lunch before heading back down to the parking lot.

For a higher and more spectacular view, continue another 500 m in distance and 100 m in elevation. You will reach a 'baby' scramble, which can easily be done to reach the rocky minor summit. From here, you can see over to the other side with a view of the Athabasca River.

*Note that no dogs are allowed onto this trail to protect the habitat of the Woodland Caribou.

*Before heading back to the parking lot be sure to check out the Glacier Loop!
