This popular "hike" in North Vancouver is known as "The Grind" for the reason that it is one of the most grueling hikes around the area. Many tourists are not prepared and do decide to hike up in flip-flops, high heels, jeans, etc. Do know that if you are not okay with a 2.9 km hike gaining ~850 m you can always purchase an uploading and downloading lift ticket and take the tram up/down. A downloading ticket is mandatory to come down from Grouse Mountain to the parking lot.

Many fitness enthusiasts and regular exercisers tackle The Grind on a regular basis for a challenge and to beat their personal best times. Every quarter is marked, giving you an idea as to where you are on the trail. Reaching the top, you will be rewarded with the view of Downtown Vancouver on a sunny day! On the PERFECT day, you may even witness Mount Baker poking out the background.

*It is common courtesy that if you are a slower hiker, please stay to the right and let others pass on your left. If the trail is narrower, please allow faster individuals to pass rather than block the trail.

*Please always dress appropriately and bring water for this hike even though it is very short.

*On average, it requires an individual to complete The Grind in 1.5 hours, but the fastest time is 25:24.

*Grouse Mountain is also converted into a Ski "Resort" and an area that offers snowshoeing in the winter (The Snowshoe Grind).
